Online and Radio Masses

Two Sunday Masses at the Cathedral will still be celebrated, but without an assembly. The 9:00 AM Mass is available on Radio 920 AM, WOKY, and the 11:00 AM Mass will be available on our YouTube channel. Other TV Masses are available on WVTV, My24 at 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM, and on WITI Fox 6, at 5:30 AM and 4:30 PM.

Last week, the Cathedral's web page actually crashed after it was overwhelmed by people trying to watch the Mass and access the order of worship - how wonderful that we had such interest in participating in online Mass! The direct link to YouTube for the Mass remained working, but people were probably unable to access the order of worship. Therefore, this week I have also attached the order of worship to this email. Please click on the file: 5Lent2020.pdf below this video box - then you can save it on your computer ahead prior to Sunday's Mass. Hopefully, this will solve the issues we faced last week. Despite the high rate of participation in online Mass last week, our weekly cash flow is currently well below our planned budget. We need your continued support in these challenging times in order to continue our mission as Mother Church of the Archdiocese: a beacon of faith, patron of the arts and haven and advocate for the poor and marginalized.

Our entire operating budget comes from private sources: contributions from individual Cathedral parish members, visitors, local corporations, foundations and generous friends.

Archdiocese of Milwaukee - Daily Reflection

The bishops of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee will be offering "Daily Reflections," beginning with Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki:

"I know we are going through some very difficult times. Our routines have been disrupted. There is a lot of fear present in our society. We want to begin a moment of reflection everyday ... encouraging you, and having you understand the spiritual dimension of the crisis we are going through."

Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, composed a prayer asking Mary, Health of the Sick, to intercede for us during this pandemic. Please join us in prayer.

Prayer to Mary,

Health of the Sick

O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm. You, Mother of the Divine Physician, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.

Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

The Power of Prayer

We know prayer works. At present, over 80 Cathedral parishioners minister as Prayer Partners in our Cathedral Prayer Link. Below are reflections of two people who pray and also receive prayer.

“Pat, I actually wanted to email my thanks to you right after I received the request for prayers for my son (30 year old graphic artist with eye trouble). I was moved to tears to know that so many were lifting him up in prayer. I have been receiving your requests for prayer for quite some time and always prayed for those mentioned. But it never occurred to me during all that time that I would be asking for prayers and what it would mean when my turn came. Thank you and all those who are unseen and praying. What a mighty spiritual force!”

“I cherish the opportunity to be a member of the Prayer Link. When I lift up the intentions in my prayer, I feel the spiritual bond of community. In a world where so many people feel lonely and disconnected, the Prayer Link is an opportunity to be part of a very loving and caring family. The encouragement and reassurance is tangible. You can feel a sense of protection. It makes a difference! And, all that is needed to offer this gift is a bit of our time.”

Please Help us Serve those in Need

In response to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, it has been decided to temporarily suspend our regular hot lunch service in the Open Door Café.

In its place, during this time, we will be serving only bag lunches during the regular lunch times of 11:15 AM – 1:00 PM. These bag lunches will be prepared here at the Cathedral.

We are asking for your help with donating the items necessary for the bag lunches. If you can, please donate some of the following items:

Bottled Water
Sliced White Bread
Single Serve Bags of Chips
Granola Bars or Little Debbie or Hostess Snack Cakes
Jelly
Brown Paper Lunch Bags

Staying Connected with the Cathedral
in Quickly Changing Times

In light of guidelines regarding social distancing as related to the potential spread of the Covid-19/Coronavirus, we want to make sure that we are staying in contact with members of the parish.

There have been a number of announcements from the Cathedral regarding changes or cancellations. A page on our web site has been set up in order to keep you informed about any changes at the Cathedral during this time and to help us all stay connected as a parish. Please click on the "Staying Connected" button to keep up to date on the latest information available. This page should be your first stop if you need up to date information and then if you have questions, please call the Cathedral at 414/276-9814.

We would like to make you aware of the following decisions regarding activities at the Cathedral in response to concerns about the Covid19-Coronavirus:

All public Masses, Confession and Sunday Vespers are cancelled.
There will be no public events or activities at the Cathedral or Parish Center until further notice. This includes Wednesday Concerts, Grand Music, SPARC, Women's Spirituality, UPLIFT, etc.
The Parish Office will be closed to the public. Staff members will be responding to phone calls and email messages. If you have any questions not addressed on the Cathedral web page, please call or email the appropriate staff member - staff directory.
In order to meet social distancing requirements, the Open Door Cafe will stop serving hot lunches and only bag lunches will be handed out.
